Hauntingly Romantic

Paranormal romances is a common theme in popular literature yet there are only few movies in that category. I guess it is very difficult to entertain both horror and romance fans at the same time.There are movies with stories about ghosts in love with humans,ghosts in love with ghosts ,lonely ghosts and about guys who stare at goats .

      Unfinished business appears to be the most common cause for ghosts hanging around on silver screen. Considering most end their stay on earth without a proper eviction notice , there must be quite a crowd at pearly gates for getting back.We can divide our love thirsty ghosts into 3 categories.

• Matchmakers

           Here ghosts stay on earth to help their loved ones get a life,to find a new love. Occasionally they show their meen streek by becoming the roadblock, but ones they understand their real purpose they become helpful. But what happens to the marriage in heaven?  All bets are off when you reach heaven warns one in over her dead body(a truly horrible movie)

• Reuniting ghosts

They come to reunite with the loved ones. But anybody who remarried their exes would say this is a bad idea. 

• Ghosts on parole,

    Once in 6 billion grim reaper makes a mistake taking lives before their time on earth,so they release them back . In a game where nobody gets out alive a second chance is always worth it.Heaven can wait (1978), Down to earth (2001) used this theme.

 Ghost -unchained melody

• Ghost (1990),Sam Wheat was murdered during a date with his girlfriend Molly. Sam's spirit, tries to save Molly from possible danger with the help of a psychic. This is the most romantic movie among this genre.

• Just Like Heaven(2005), A lonely landscape architect (Ruffalo) falls for the spirit of beautiful woman (Witherspoon) who used to live in his new apartment.
• Ghost Town (2008),Dentist Pincus is followed by a ghost who wants to make it right for his spouse
• Truly Madly Deeply (1990),Nina is totally heartbroken at the death of her boyfriend Jamie, but is even more unprepared for his return as a ghost. At first it's almost as good as it used to be - hey, even the rats that infested her house have disappeared. But Jamie starts bringing ghostly friends home and behaving more and more oddly.
• Heart and Souls (1993),A businessman is reunited with the four lost souls who were his guardian angels during childhood, all with a particular purpose to joining the afterlife.It was later made into one of the most original screenplays in Hollywood, sixth sense..
• Ghosts of Girlfriends Past (2009),where Matthew McConaughey is haunted by the ghosts of his past girlfriends at his younger brother's wedding.
• Heaven Can Wait (1978),A Los Angeles Rams quarterback, accidentally taken away from his body by an over-anxious angel before he was supposed to die, comes back to life in the body of a recently-murdered millionaire.
• Always (1989),Pete is a pilot who drops water on forest fires at very low heights. His intended Dorinda is also a pilot who doubles as a radio controller for the pilots who do this work. Pete always takes chances, confident that his skill will bring him through. One day it doesn't and he is killed. He finds himself returning as an invisible ghost who's presence is barely felt giving advice to his successor. Pete then finds that his successor is also falling in love with Dorinda.
• Down to Earth (2001),After dying before his time, an aspiring comic gets a second shot at life...by being reincarnated as a wealthy but un-likeable businessman.

• I Dream of Jeannie (sitcom),where a  United States astronaut finds his life vastly complicated when he stumbles on to a bottle containing a female genie. Lasted 5 seasons,gotta be good

• Nicolas Cage seems to be obsessed with this idea ,  Drive Angry and Ghost Rider used the idea of returning from hell to save the loved ones. If we stay alive long enough we might even see him cryogenicaly frozen or worse getting re-animated and  doing a sequel
