Geeks And The Gorgeous

According to the widely accepted conspiracy theory this theme appears in most movies as a part of silicon valley funded give "geeks a chance" campaign. It  is not just Jude Aptoe's slackers , but almost everyone has a hot wife/girlfriend in the movies . This is one of the most widely seen double standard in movie relationships.

    In this scenario  wife is not only gorgeous, but she also usually had a glamorous past which she sacrificed to marry our poor slacker . She is also more rich (Baxter) ,intelligent (Baxter), has more friends (Baxter) , in fact poor Baxter ultimately gives up in that movie.  Michael Showalter who wrote  and directed the film never got another movie deal is a further proof to our conspiracy theory.
  One can argue this is a fairly common scenario in real life also with every tabloid showcasing  at least one such couple every day.

     Where did all the plain women go.Was it  "the survival of the sexiest" or  Hollywood led banishment of average woman from silver screen .  If you observe,even characters who aren't supposed to be sexy are portrayed by model-esque women or is it just my dirty mind?
      Jude Aptoe created a cult following for the "slacker/hot wife" theme with knocked up and 40 year old virgin . Seth Rogen did three movies with this theme(knocked up ,  Zack and Miri , pineapple express) within a span of two years. My favorite nervous wreck Woody Allen made a long career with a minor variation of this theme.
